Queenstown

Queenstown is located on the shoreline of Lake Wakatipu in the Southern Lakes district, Otago in the South Island of New Zealand. It is one of the most popular tourist destination in the country.

Queenstown is a place of stunning natural beauty, all year round.

The town itself is very cosmopolitan. You will find a wide range of accommodation, restaurants, bars, nightlife, along with a massive range of outdoor activities.

Queenstown is the known as the "adventure capital of the world". It has the perfect landscape and climate for outdoor activities. Where else can you find mountains, lakes, rivers, forests, hiking trails and historic sites all within such a short distance of each other.

Popular activities include skiing/snowboarding, jet boating, white water rafting, bungee jumping, hunting, fishing and these are just a few of the things you can do here.

Everywhere you look there is something happening. Skydivers floating gently to the ground, helicopters flying overhead, people bungee jumping off bridges, jet boats travelling at high speeds through mighty river canyons.

If that all seems like too much work or you just want a more relaxing, less intense holiday, there are many scenic walks you can try. Golf is very popular here too. There are some excellent courses like the one beside the lake at Kelvin Heights or the course at the luxury Millbrook Resort.

Queenstown is a good place to base yourself if you are planning on checking out the surrounding areas of Milford Sound, Fiordland National Park and the Southern Lakes. You can easily take a day trip to Milford Sound or Fiordland by car, helicopter or aeroplane.

Also, well worth a visit are the renowned Central Otago wineries like Chard Farm and Gibbston Valley Wines.

Queenstown is a truly stunning location. The beauty of its lakeside location and surrounding landscapes make it an absolutely essential part of any visit to New Zealand.

There are plenty of places to stay in or around Queenstown. Accommodation options include; Motels, hotels, apartmants, bed and breakfasts, homestays, farmstays, hostels, backpackers, holiday parks and camp sites.
