Piha Beach is the main attraction here. There are a number of stunning beaches up and down the coast, some great short bush walks and many beautiful landmarks.

Lion Rock dominates Piha beach, separating the North and South Beaches. Visitors used to be able to climb the rock, but now the track stops half way up, because too many people were falling off it and injuring themselves. As alternative lookout points, we recommend the view from the track over to whites beach, at the north end of Piha Beach, or the Pakiti lookout at the south end.

The 90 metre cascading Kitekite Falls, can be found on a 1.8 km loop track, that departs from the car park at the end of Glen Esk Road. This walk takes you through some stunning coastal sub-tropical rainforests. For the keen, there is a steep track, beside the waterfall up to the top. There are swimming holes at the top and at the bottom of the falls. It takes about one hour to walk the loop track at a steady pace.
