Entering the Catlin’s from the north, Kaka Point, south east of Balclutha is as good a place as any to start surfing. There are several beach and reef breaks along the 7 km coast to Nugget Point, which perform best from 3-6ft, and produces waves for all levels of surfers. This beach has a 45° swell window, from northeast to southeast and needs a westerly breeze for offshore winds and barrels.
