Auckland City, or Central Auckland is the largest city in New Zealand, with an estimated population of 425,500, it is situated in the Auckland Region, in the North Island of New Zealand. The Auckland Regional Council is based in Auckland City. Central Auckland lies on a strip of land, between the Waitemata Harbour, on the Hauraki Gulf, the Manukau Harbour, on the Tasman Sea, North Shore City across the Harbour Bridge to the north, and Manukau City to the south. Most of Auckland's central business district is built on land reclaimed over the past 100 years. Today development is reclaiming land to the west of the CBD. |
